Session 1
The Power of Patient Voices: Elevating Patient-Centered Outcomes in Research
Level:
Introductory
The development of patient-centered outcomes research (PCOR) has become a regular feature of HEOR discussions. However, our collective community must assess - How far have we come thus far? What are the benefits of incorporating PCOR methods in healthcare decision-making and the development of innovations? Is there value to payers in incorporating PCOR considerations in pricing decisions? What are the risks of failing to incorporate PCOR as the HTA landscape evolves? This session will examine the landscape of these considerations, what constitutes authentic patient-centeredness, and what additional efforts are needed to reflect what patients and their caregivers value.
2:10 PM - 3:10 PM
Session 2
Are We Making a Difference? Identifying Best Practices to Measure Patient Engagement:
Level:
Introductory
This is not about how to “do” engagement; it about how to measure attributes and accomplishments of engagement. That is, how and when are we measuring the quality, quantity, impact, and value of engagement in research? We have some agreement about what “good or “bad” engagement looks like, but we currently lack standards for assessment and comparison. How do we know there is return on investment? How might standards elevate the credibility of the field?

Session 3
Patient-Centered Methods: Accomplishments, Advancements and the Future
Level:
Introductory
The development of patient-centered research methods in HEOR must address fundamental research questions, including the who, what, when, and how related to preferred outcomes. Patient-centered methods apply these to assess what endpoints are important to patients and caregivers in healthcare decision-making processes. Still, questions remain regarding their universality and the establishment of best practices in this blossoming field. This session aims to explore the current state of patient-centered research methods and highlight recent innovations that are advancing the science. The panel will also delve into the future state of patient-centered methods and discuss the strides necessary to fulfill the promise of PCOR.
4:30 PM - 5:30 PM
Session 4
Advancing Patient-Centered Research: Seizing Opportunities and Addressing Challenges
Level:
Introductory
This session aims to elevate patient-centered research by synthesizing insights from all three previous sessions, pinpoint opportunities, addressing challenges, and calling for actionable steps.
